It comes as no surprise that Aromatherapy is all the rage today.  This is the main reason I started my candle business.  I want to provide a healthy, affordable choice for burning candles.  A holistic option around burning candles, one that has healing properties is what I desire for my candles.  

Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils to promote physical and mental well-being. If you enjoy burning scented candles in your home, a basic knowledge of aromatherapy can help you get the maximum benefits from your jar candles. 

It is truly amazing the way a candle can make you feel.  Smell has the capacity to cross the blood-barrier and travel to the central nervous system.  Emotions and sense of smell is highly attached. 

One of the necessary components of an aroma candle is essential oil. Essential oils don’t always have a strong throw scent in soy wax, so when you see “fragrance” oil, don’t let that scare you.  In most cases this is a combination of essential oils, natural blending agent or carrier oil. 

Some of the best candle scents used for aroma therapy are:

Lavender – Stress-Relieving properties to relieve migraines and other forms of headaches, help with insomnia, and some neurological disorders. Lavender treats anxiety disorders and related conditions such as depression. Finally, its useful in the treatment of acute and chronic pain.

Citrus (Lemon or Orange) – Clear the fog from your mind, ease the tension, uplift your mood and feel less stressed. Citrus can help ease anxiety and reduce irritability.  It can also have an energy boosting, uplifting effect.

Vanilla – Although not technically an essential oil, pure vanilla oil fights inflammation.  Also, vanilla is high in antioxidant levels which helps prevent cancer cell growth.  Relaxing with vanilla can help those who struggle with anxiety and high blood pressure. It’s a great way to promote happy, relaxed and calm state of mind.

Peppermint and Eucalyptus – The combination of these essential oils is a great way to help treat tension headaches.  They can also help promote and enhance mental focus.

Rosemary and sage – great way to combat headaches, mental fatigue and physical exhaustion.  This combination also helps relieve stress, tension and anxiety.  Sage influences dopamine levels helping increase happy feelings.

Getting the most out of your aroma candle is also a great way to get your money’s worth!  Please make sure to burn each candle for at least an hour at a time.  Also, make sure to keep the wick trimmed.  Your candle burns evenly and no smoke is emitted.
