The key to the massive use and widespread popularity of the mason jar is the standardized lid sizes that can be interchanged between jars of any manufacturer. With universal lid sizes mason jars are unbelievably practical, because you can fit any wide mouth lid on any wide mouth jar, and any regular mouth lid on any regular mouth jar.
The main reason I chose to use mason jars for my candle collection is I love the fact that I can repurpose them for a multitude of tasks. I’m sure many of you have heard of the canning process to preserve food; however, did you know you can also use mason jars for storing, baking, gardening, crafting, drinking beverages, and of course burning candles?
Our 4 oz. and 8 oz. square mason jar candles use the regular mouth lids that can be interchanged with any regular mouth jars. Our 16 oz. square mason jars are the only candles in our collection that use the wide mouth lids that can also be interchanged with any other wide mouth mason jars. Love, love, love the versatility with these jars.
After you have finished burning your candles in a mason jar, remove the wick from the bottom of the jar. Remove the remaining sticker residue by using rubbing alcohol. Then simply put in the microwave for 30 seconds and wipe out remaining candle wax on the interior surface. Thoroughly wash with soap and water, or throw in the dishwasher. Now you can reuse the jar for storing leftovers in the fridge, packing a salad for lunch or freezing food. You can also move the jar from your freezer, fridge or oven directly to your table! This saves time and clean up. Here are some great purposeful products to use with your mason jars.
Don’t forget that glass is cleaner than plastic: it’s non-porous surface won’t absorb smells, colors and most importantly germs. There is no risk of harmful toxins leaking into your food.
Treat your mason jar with care and it will live on indefinitely. One of my new favorite uses for mason jars is making overnight oatmeal. You can find many great recipes for delicious this breakfast on Pinterest.
